Maintaining Productivity During the Summer-version 2Productivity it more than just getting things done. It’s being able to efficiently get things done in a way that is time efficient, organized, and optimal for future success. As time goes on, utilizing more of our day to be productive is needed. Whether it be the transition into middle, high school, college, and even adult life, the responsibilities that come along with it grow as well. Having to manage your own time, keep things organized, initiate and complete tasks, and more are all needed, and if their productivity skills are weak, things can become difficult to manage very quickly.

During the summer, students may find that not only their academic skills are weakening, but their social, life, and executive functioning ones as well. Productivity is reliant on executive functioning skills. While on vacation, procrastinating on things may come more easily, and without resistance from parents/guardians because it is the time for everyone to relax. While this is okay for a little bit, allowing the entire summer to pass without maintaining or strengthening these skills can cause major setbacks. School doesn’t halt just because all the skills learned from last year were forgotten. Rather, it is often expected that as you progress to the next thing, you are ready for it, but it’s not uncommon for students to be unprepared. One source explains how “kids can lose up to 40% of learning gains over summer break — especially when it comes to essential skills like time management, organization, memory, and focus. For neurodivergent learners or kids with ADHD, the gap can be even larger,” (Woods, 2026). This is why we at the Support for Students Growth Center College Life Skills Program offer Summer Intensive Groups to help avoid this regression.

Each group is interactive, practical, and led by master and doctoral professionals who will aid students of all ages with learning and utilizing strategies that can be applied in everyday life.  Our summer services are available in person at our Boca Raton center and can also be accessed VIRTUALLY, from practically anywhere with internet! We offer summer intensive programs led by Master and Doctoral level coaches to help prepare them for what’s ahead. We target real-world social skills, strengthen executive functioning, and more to ensure students are engaged, confident, growing, and ready for independent life. With expert guidance in a supportive, structured environment offered both in our Boca Raton office and virtually, young adults can not only maintain but grow their skills so they can be reaching the success they are more than capable of.
